About House of Matthew
The
"House of Matthew"
or "Pusat Jagaan Rumah Matthew"
was officially opened by Yang Berhormat Datuk Raman the MP for Gombak
in April 2006.
Inspired
by
the
burning
desire to see the not-so-privileged children enjoy their
God-given right to a better education, praiseworthy upbringing and the
deep instilling of solid moral values, Pastor Sheila Wright has now
materialized her deepest dreams for a greater good.
This vision, which has been radiating in her heart since 1987, has now
become tangible reality in the form of a double-storey house, and
it
houses at present children between the ages of 6-13yrs old.
However,
the
true
structure
of HOM lies not in concrete, brick and mortar; but
rather in the firm foundations of tender love and care.
The House is located at No 36 Jalan SG 7/3 Taman Sri Gombak, Batu Caves
Selangor. (Click
here for location map and direction) This "Home" is a
registered body under Persatuan Pembaharuan Hidup Shana Zoe and
approved by the Welfare Department of Selangor.
Pastor Sheila Wright is the Administrator together with a "CareGiver"
who will also help take care of the children.
Being a non-profit Organization, the House depends on donations
received. You are most welcome to contribute both financially and
materially towards this home. The home needs Groceries, clothes and
household items. However the most urgent need of the Home is to have
"our own house". At present we pay rental of RM 1,000-00 and at the
risk of being "evicted at any time by the Landlord" we earnestly seek
to have this burden lifted from us. Having our own house will be a
dream fulfilled.
The Public are most welcome to donate and any monies received must be
made payable to "Persatuan
Pembaharuan Hidup Shana Zoe (HOM)".
We hope that this "House of Matthew"
will be the start of many more
"homes" for the future and we invite you to become a part of this
Vision and Mission either by direct participation as "donors" or by
also being "spiritual partners" through your prayers and Intercessions.
THE CHILDREN — Our Hopes and Vision
We would like to
have more children come in but due to the size of the House this number
has reached its optimum. The age brackets of these young ones are
between 6 –13 years old. They are properly housed in two separate
rooms, one for the boys and the other for the girls. Their needs are
lovingly cared for by a caregiver or ‘house mother’.
These
blessed
children
are
showered with great care and unconditional
love. The children receive nothing short of par-excellence in terms of
education, with volunteer teachers coming to the house and giving
them free personal tuition; the instilling of good moral values
thus enabling the young ones to cope with their studies and become
better students and citizens of the country..
OUR MISSION – Our
Fundamental Priorities
1. To provide children from destitute families with a comfortable
environment suitable for proper development and growth akin to those of
a model home.
.
2. To provide an atmosphere conducive to learning, and the
relevant education, that these children may rise up to become excellent
students and contributing citizens.
3. To instill good moral and Christian values in these children that
they will grow up to be praiseworthy denizens of the country who live a
life of integrity, honesty and righteousness.
4. To help these children overcome their possible inadequate feelings
of ‘low self-esteem’ and a sense of ‘hopelessness’, which may have
sprouted from their challenging backgrounds, with unconditional love,
unceasing care and wholesome self-awareness.
5. To aid the parents and rightful guardians of these poor children
through proper counseling and guidance, providing them with better job
opportunities and securing for them their basic human rights: so that
through their children, they too can now become more confident and
purposeful parents.
OUR COMMUNITY SERVICES —
Our Future Vision and Plans
1. To organize counseling sessions for the financially-challenged
parents, helping them to realize and develop their own hidden
potential.
2. To help these financially-challenged parents secure better
positions, more suitable housing opportunities and medical facilities.
3. To instill in these parents, through various programmes, discipline,
integrity and a sense of purpose, thus releasing their optimum
potential.
4. To help these parents, via structured tuition classes, to improve
their understanding of Bahasa Melayu and English, as well as any other
subject deemed necessary.
ADMINISTRATION
1. The Home is ‘administered’ by the Administrator, Pastor Sheila
Wright, who sees to all the needs of the children and the home.
2. The Chairman Ps Michel Wright assisted by the board of Committee
Members, comprised of five dedicated members, oversees the intricate
running of the home.
